Interaction between Institutions and Industries is the need of the hour. Students get an exposure on actual industrial environment and a chance to understand their work culture. Subsequently, students acquires knowledge about their career and helps them to prepare for placement in various disciplines. On the other hand, industries are also facing stringent competitions and are in need of students who are aware of industry standards and capable of achieving the same. This calls for an urgent need for interaction of industries and academics. The industries can participate with institutes in molding the students for industry ready by providing training. To materialize this, bridging the gap between industry and the institute is a must and for this, an Industry Institute Partnership Cell was constituted in February 2018 at NIE Institute of Technology (NIEIT).

  3. To catalyze the further growth and development of interaction between the Institute and Industry.
  4. To bring about MoUs and Agreements with various industrial and research organizations in different fields and sectors to promote various forms of interactions.
  5. To provide continuing education to people working in industries so that they can upgrade their technical knowledge or obtain higher degree. This orients the faculty members towards the industry from the portals of College

Benefits for the Industries under IIPC

  1. To earmark the students for future employment during their internship period itself and providing them the proper skill sets by which, students will be industry ready from the day one of their career.
  2. Industry can plan and build their future work force by providing suitable training and inculcating proper skill sets to the students
  3. Institute assists in upgrading qualification of the industry people, under continuing education in part-time or distance education mode.
  4. Industry experts can hone their knowledge and skills by actively participating in delivering the lectures and seminars for both faculty members and students.

The institute requests a proposed work plan from the Industries/R & D organizations and provides free floor space to begin with.

Amrita Virtual Interactive e-Learning World (E-SIKSHANA)

Overview of E-SIKSHANA

E-SIKSHANA is a multi-modal, multimedia internet based virtual knowledge sharing platform, adopted by VTU E-learning centre as an alternate to the existing Edusat e-learning system. It is a part of “Talk to a Teacher” program coordinated by IIT Bombay, funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the Indian Government’s National Mission for Education using Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) along with various other projects in Virtual Labs, Haptics and Natural Language Processing. A-VIEW is now deployed at several IITs, NITs and VTU.

Objectives: E-SIKSHANA enables

  1. The instructor to teach and interact with large number of learners transcending geographies on a real time basis through live audio-video streaming and synchronized content sharing.
  2. To leverage the world’s best faculty for the benefit of the academic community at higher educational institutions across the nation by providing a near classroom experience for free of cost.
  3. To setup online classrooms, meetings and training with ease and to perform live evaluation of the learners and to get real time feedback from attendees on the go.
  4. To act as an online meeting tool that can support online social collaboration and interactions with multiple users across the world.

An initiation to setup E-SIKSHANA lab at NIEIT

  1. Committee has been formed. Attended the workshop conducted by VTU.
  2. Submitted a proposal along with the budget to setup a multipurpose computer lab with state of art infrastructure at existing EDUSAT centre at ground floor of Shankaracharya Block., which can be used for E-SIKSHANA, online sessions, hands on sessions of technical workshops and assessment drives of placement cell related activities.
  3. This lab can host online courses like NPTEL, SWAYAM, MOOC etc., In this regard a communication has been initiated with IIT Madras for sharing the Content and Videos of NPTEL.

    FDPs and SDPs can be jointly organised with industries.
    Certification courses can be offered for the faculty members to fulfil the identified gaps in the curriculum with the support of the industries. This will be a value-addition.
    Industry need based certificate courses can be offered.

Proposed Future Plans

    NIE Institute of Technology has got Institutional membership with Mysore Chambers of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). Placement week can be organized jointly with MCCI and CII for NIEIT students.
    HR Managers-Summit is proposed to organise in the academic year 2018-2019. This creates an awareness to the public about the activities of NIEIT and also helps in Placement & Training activities.
    Finishing School concepts can be framed-out for final year students.
    Establishment of Training Centers in various engineering domains to cater Industry need based certificate courses.

NIE IT is having incubation centre,which is aimed at transforming the students with innovative ideas into young entrepreneurs. The Centre supports innovative ideas of the students, and helps them to nurture such ideas into effective action plans.
